Easy to Follow Broker Guide

For those who are just starting out in the trading business, you should know that stock brokers are not the only kind of brokers around. In fact, there are different kinds of brokers that you can hire services from, depending on your needs.

There are two main kinds of brokers:

Full Service Brokers

It is recommended that beginners in trade acquire the services of a full service broker. As the title expresses, full service brokers offer buy and sell services and full advice on anything related to the trading business. This could include retirement planning and/or advice on how to handle your taxes. Full service brokers provide extensive research and professional advice suitable on how to best handle your account management issues. This is one of the best benefits of full service broker especially for a beginner since trading requires a lot of research and information in order to arrive at the wisest decision in handling assets'that is, gain the most profit and avoid the biggest losses. Full service brokers, however, do not decide for traders. They just give presentations of their research and work out the best out of the decision given by the trader.

One should also take note that rates for a full service broker could be high. But for a beginner, it could be worth having an advisor and learn the ropes from a professional.

Discount Brokers

Discount brokers are recommended for professional traders since this kind of broker only carries out buy and sell orders. Unlike full service brokers, discount brokers do not provide research and account management advice. An investor should do the all the research to be able to make decisions on his or her personal account. They are called the discount brokers because traders pay a lot less. This is good news for beginners who have small capital on investments although it'll be riskier in decision-making.

There are brokers who can cater to specific needs:

Online Brokers

Traders would only have to deal with online brokers through the internet or through phone. Trading platforms are shared by broker and investor online. Buy and sell orders could be cascaded in an instant to the broker. An online broker is recommended for investors who travel a lot and don't have much time in their hands to meet with a live broker.

Futures Broker

A futures broker helps speculate on the movement of a commodity's price in the future. Thus, in choosing a futures broker, one should be secured in the research capabilities of the broker. Since futures trading much depends on the accuracy of a speculation in order to make an advanced decision, thorough research is needed.

Forex Broker

Specifically for forex trading, a forex broker should be able to present the details of the trade and be able to equally speculate on the trend in forex trading. Forex trading is a much fast-paced trading industry and a forex broker should have access to resources necessary for this kind of trade.

Remember that brokers differ in expertise. Decide on the kind of broker that will best suit your need as a trader. If you're a beginner, maybe you should choose a full service broker. But will less capital, maybe it would take a little more effort on your side and get a discount broker. It's up to you to choose wisely.
